This Fourth of July marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a milestone worth pausing on. For us at Russell Quality Roofing, an anniversary like this is a chance to reflect on the things worth protecting: our families, our homes, and the communities we are proud to be part of. We celebrate it the way we know best, by doing quality work for our neighbors and by honoring the military veterans who made these 250 years possible.

What America’s 250th Birthday Means to Us at Russell Quality Roofing

A roof is easy to take for granted until it is gone. So is the freedom to build a life under one. This year, both feel worth celebrating, and both reflect what our team cares about every day.

A Locally Owned Company Built on Community Since 2007

Russell Quality Roofing has been locally owned and operated since 2007. We are not a national chain passing through. We live here, our team works here, and many of our customers are neighbors we see around town. That closeness shapes how we operate, with a steady focus on integrity, honest communication, and doing what we say we will do. Our commitment to this community is the foundation everything else is built on.

Why a Strong Roof Over Every Home Is Worth Celebrating

When you celebrate independence, you are really celebrating the security of home, the place where families gather, grow, and feel safe. A sound roof is one of the most important parts of protecting that home and everyone inside it. Helping homeowners and veterans across our region keep that protection in place is meaningful work, and it is the part of the job we are most proud of.

The Reality of Veteran Housing Needs

Honoring veterans with words is easy. Honoring them with action is something else. One of the realities many people do not think about is that military veterans face real housing challenges long after their service ends. According to the National Veterans Homeless Support, about a third of veterans who served after 2001 pay more than 30% of their income on housing. Many veterans live on fixed incomes from disability benefits, making unexpected home repairs including roof replacements a serious financial burden.

A failing roof is not a minor inconvenience. For a veteran on a fixed income, it can mean water damage spreading through the home, mold developing inside the walls, and a structure that becomes harder to maintain with every season it goes unaddressed. For veterans with service-connected disabilities, an unsafe or deteriorating home creates additional barriers that compound an already difficult situation.

This is why roof replacement for veterans matters and why we are glad to be part of programs that help make it happen.

Honoring the Veterans Who Helped Make This Milestone Possible

There is no 250th birthday without the military veterans who served our country across every generation. We try to honor them with more than words.

Our Participation in the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project

We are proud to take part in the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, a nationwide effort created to show gratitude and honor the veterans who served and the families who support them. Since the program launched in 2016, more than 800 veterans and military members across 41 states have received new roofs through it, with a total estimated value of more than five million dollars in materials and labor donated. Being able to contribute to that right here at home is one of the most rewarding things we do.

How the Program Works

The program runs through a partnership with Purple Heart Homes, an organization dedicated to providing safe, accessible housing solutions for veterans. Recipients are selected and approved for roof replacements through Purple Heart Homes. Owens Corning donates the roofing materials and roofing components at no cost, and participating Platinum Preferred Contractors like Russell Quality Roofing donate the labor and installation. It is a genuine team effort, and it is humbling to play a part in it.

Giving Back in the Lewiston-Clarkston Area and Surrounding Communities

We have completed full replacements for veterans in our own community on more than one occasion. Giving back to the people we work alongside has always been part of how Russell Quality Roofing operates, and we intend to keep saying yes to these projects whenever Owens Corning and Purple Heart Homes need a contractor in the Lewiston-Clarkston corridor and surrounding areas.

Other Resources Available to Veterans for Roof Replacement and Home Repairs

Beyond the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, several programs exist to assist military veterans with roof replacement, roof repair, and critical home repairs. If you or a veteran you know is in need, these are legitimate resources worth exploring.

Serving Our Corner of the Country, One Roof at a Time

Whether it is a donated roof for a veteran or a scheduled replacement for a Lewiston to Spokane homeowner planning ahead, the care we bring is the same.

Proudly Rooted in the Inland Northwest

We serve homeowners across the Lewiston-Clarkston corridor, the Moscow-Pullman corridor, and the Coeur d’Alene-Spokane corridor and surrounding areas, a region known as the Inland Northwest. From longtime residents in Lewiston to families in Spokane getting their first estimate, every property and every family gets the same level of attention and the same commitment to doing an excellent job.

The Same Standards on Every Roof

Our standards do not change from one job to the next. Every full roof replacement we perform includes:

  • Complete tear-off of all existing roofing materials, always
  • Owens Corning UDL 50 underlayment on every project
  • Ice and water shield in all areas most prone to leaks, with a seasonal switch to flexible ice and water shield from approximately October through March
  • Final cleanup including a magnetic sweep to remove stray nails to the best of our ability
  • Photo and video documentation as needed

The result is a residential or commercial roofing installation completed with precision and a property left in good shape.

Owens Corning Architectural Shingles and Metal Roofing

We install Owens Corning asphalt architectural shingles and standing seam metal roofing for both residential and commercial roofing projects, including new construction. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor ranked in the top one percent nationally, we install to manufacturer specifications on every job. Our superintendents are MBCI certified for metal roofing installation. Standing seam metal roofing offers high wind resistance, strong snow performance, durability, and lower maintenance compared to shingles.

Getting Your Roof Ready for Summer and the Fourth of July

While you are planning cookouts and celebrations, it is a good moment to give a thought to the roof overhead.

How Inland Northwest Summer Heat and Sun Affect Your Roof

Summer heat, strong sun, and daily temperature swings put stress on roofing materials over time. Modern Owens Corning shingle technology is engineered to perform across a wide range of conditions, but years of exposure can still add up, especially on an aging roof. Preventative maintenance awareness, meaning knowing the warning signs and getting ahead of them before fall and winter, is the best approach for most homeowners.

Signs It May Be Time to Schedule a Free Roof Inspection

A few things are worth watching for as part of proper care of your home:

  • Shingles that are missing, cracked, or curling
  • Granules collecting in gutters or on the ground near downspouts
  • Visible wear, dark streaking, or moss growth on the roof surface
  • Water stains appearing on interior ceilings or walls

If you notice any of these, we offer free standard residential roof inspections. If roof triage is required, meaning temporary measures to prevent water from entering the structure until permanent repairs can be made, there is a separate charge for that service. After a storm, we can also inspect and document any storm damage. If you plan to involve your insurance company, you should contact your insurer and follow their claim process, and we can provide the documentation and information to support it.

A Quick Homeowner Tip for a Safe Holiday Weekend

Leave roof checks to a professional rather than climbing up yourself, particularly in summer heat. And if fireworks are part of your celebration, keep them a safe distance from the house since stray embers can land on roofs and dry debris.

Financing a New Roof When the Time Is Right

If your roof is due for replacement, timing does not have to stand in the way.

Third-Party Financing Through Service Finance, GreenSky, and Regions

We work with third-party financing partners including Service Finance, GreenSky, and Regions. Financing options include a 6-month same as cash plan, with rates starting at 9.99% to 11.99% on approved credit. Financing is provided and managed by our third-party partners. Russell Quality Roofing is not the lender.

Our Military Discount for Veterans and Active Service Members

Local roofing contractors may offer discounts or specialized services for veterans, and we are proud to be one of them. In honor of America’s 250th anniversary and the military veterans who made it possible, Russell Quality Roofing offers a $250 discount on qualifying roof replacement projects for active military members and veterans.

Here Is to the Next 250 Years and the Homes We Will Protect Along the Way

As the nation celebrates 250 years, we are proud to keep doing our small part: protecting homes across the Inland Northwest, completing quality roof replacements for veterans and homeowners alike, and honoring the people who made this milestone possible. If you would like a free residential roof inspection or an estimate, call us at (208) 791-5252 or email quotes@rssllc-construction.com.
